Meeting with other knitters is great

For the past year or so I have gone to Knitting Meetups in Vancouver. I love getting together with other knitters because it encourages me to keep on knitting. I love to see what projects other people are working on! Its also a great way to get help or learn new things.

Vancouver is about a 30 minute drive from my house. Not so bad but still it would nice to have it closer. Well, one of the ladies I met at a Vancouver Meetup has organized a great together of knitters in Richmond. We met at a local community centre that is only about 10 minutes from my house. I love that its so close! We had about 8 people gather to knit and chat. The community centre room is currently available one a month, but they said if we have a large turnout we could use the room twice a month. So we'll see how it goes.

After seeing the projects other group members were making I am now inspired to make something felted. One woman was making a felted bag in such great and bright colours! Someone else was working a big enterlac project and it looked so wonderful. I've made one small garterlac project (a dishcloth) but I think I should try it again now that I know the basics of how its done.

Someone else was showing off her fingerless mitts made from Noro yarn and I love the colours! All of my projects so far have been made with yarn that you can find at Michaels. Nothing wrong with Michaels (I love the cheap cost) but I think I'm ready to try some new yarns.

I haven't done much knitting this weekend as I've had a cold. And this past week I was reading more than I was knitting. (The Choice by Nicholas Sparks) So not many new projects but I hope to get back into it this week.

Happy Knitting Everyone!

On the knitting front I have finished another dishcloth and cast on for my first sweater. Its the biggest project I've ever cast on. It's both scary and exciting!

New Swap

So it's already been 2 weeks since my last post. Yikes time sure flies. I finished the dishcloth with white Sugar and Cream yarn, and I have now started another cloth with Bernant cotton yarn. I plan on giving these as a gift to my secret prayer pal from church. Maybe I'll get a picture up here one day. It's a little hard 'cause I don't have a digital camera myself.

I'm signing up for the Longing for Spring Swap. Here is my questionaire:

Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been at your craft? I have been knitting for about 3 or 4 years.

What are your favorite yarns/fibers? What are your least favorite yarns/fibers? I like to knit dishcloths so cotton is good, but I'm open to suggestions of other good stuff.

What are your favorite colors? What are your least favorite colors? I like blues and greens and dislike oranges.

What ‘warm weather’ project are you looking forward to making this year? I'm tossing around the idea of making a tank top or similar.

What are you favorite scents? Least favorite? I've never really thought about favourite scents before... I so like the smell of almond flavouring. Does that count?

What is your favorite flower? Gerberras and roses.

What are you favorite spring time hobbies/activities? Walking on the dyke/seawall.

Do you have a garden? If you do, tell us a little about it. Do you like to plant flowers or vegetables? The tomatoes I tried to plant last year didn't do to well. I might try some herbs this year. I life in an apartment to space is very limited.

What are your favorite sweets? Anything chocolate!

Do you collect anything? No

Do you have any allergies? No

Do you have any pets? No

This will be my second swap and I'm looking forward to it. If you want to join go here. http://longingforspringswap.blogspot.com/ Signups last until February 14 or until 40 are reached.
